Sourdough Surprises January

Sunday, December 22, 2013

Awesome job on the popovers guys! You proved you could make delicious popovers quickly, without special pans, and with your sourdough starter, with super delicious results!! We hope you enjoyed this month and that you guys will be adding popovers to your meals regularly!

So are you ready to find out what we are doing next? Well good! Because we are going to do... Focaccia, a flat oven-baked Italian bread often topped with olive oil, herbs, fruits and/or veggies. Its kind of like a really thick pizza without sauce or cheese, and it is totally delicious!

There are many, many examples of delicious looking, airy, crispy focaccia breads, all completely sourdough-risen. For some inspiration, you can check out this one, this one and this one. Each has a different degree of difficulty, and range from a quick to a multi-day in process. And there are plenty of other options, too!  If you need more inspiration don't forget to check our Monthly Inspiration Pinterest Board! In addition to choosing your base recipe, you can also choose how you flavor and top your focaccia - a simple brushing of olive oil and a sprinkling of spices? Fresh herbs pressed onto the top? Or maybe tomatoes? Or grapes? The possibilities are endless, and each option sounds as delicious as the next!

So are you ready to begin? Let's go!

How to participate this month:
1. Choose a recipe and make a mouthwatering focaccia, utilizing your sourdough starter!
2. Take some photos and blog about it on January 20, 2013
3. Make sure that you include a backlink to our blog somewhere in your post (you need to make sure you include both the "www." and the ".com" in the link in order for the linky tool to work!)
4. Follow this link: get the InLinkz code and choose the HTML code that works best for you and your blog. Copy and paste it into the HTML section of your blog. You will know you have done it correctly if you see a little blue frog face.
5. Make sure you enter your post into the linky tool on reveal day so everyone can see what you have made!

Let's get baking!

Brilliant - focaccia is on my list of breads I really should have made by now, so this works out perfectly!

Well girls, I'm getting slammed at work right now so looks like I'm going to miss this one. Can't spend too much time getting creative right now. Hopefully next month!
